| The goal of this Web site is to provide one easy-to-use place where Virginia Oaks residents, golfers, and members of the nearby community can go any time of the day or night to help them get the information, assistance, service, or products they need. That's a big job, so naturally, if this is your first visit to our Web site, things may seem a little confusing. Please take the time to explore and discover the different sections of the site. Additional information for new users is provided below as well as in our Your Account Help section. If you experience any problems using the site, try looking in our Troubleshooting information, but please do contact us if you have a problem or question you need addressed.

As a service to our visitors, we have tried to include some basic information about the community, the golf course, general area, and local area merchants on this Web site. To help you find your way easily to the information you need, please read the following article to help you learn how to use the site.
Exploring the Site
This site is divided into several main areas:- Our Community area contains information mainly of interest to Virginia Oaks residents, such as points of contact for the homeowner's association and committee members, contact information for local businesses, emergency contacts, helpful local Web links, etc.
- Our News & Events area allows members and interested businesses to submit free classified ads for display on the Web site, upload articles or ads to be published in our bi-monthly newsletter, create or read articles for the Web site, and create or read about events in the community and nearby area.
- Our Golf Course area contains information about the golf course and clubhouse, including course announcements, rates, services available, etc.
- Our Tour area contains articles and information of interest to visitors, golfers, and potential home buyers interested in visiting, relocating, or golfing here. This includes a tour of each hole of the golf course, a tour of the recreation facilities and ammenities in the community, real estate listings for property available in the community, and - of course - driving directions to help you get here. For those interested in purchasing a property for sale here in the Oaks, a brief description of the main home builders is also included.

Getting Around
Navigating to the different areas of the Web site is easy - just click the appropriate link at the top of any of our Web pages. Once you are inside an area, you will also see an additional navigation menu on the right side of your browser window. The top of this navigation menu will change depending on the area that you are located within, and the links listed in this top section guide you to the content located within that area.
Click on any of the links and you will go to a listing page that previews the entries for that type of content.
HINT: You can always look at the photo at the top of the side navigation menu to check the area. To get back to the main page of that area, just click the photo.
The side navigation menu also contain access to information that you may need regardless of where you are located on the site. These "General Options" including things like copyright information, user and privacy agreements, access to site help, etc.
"Member Options" are located at the bottom of the side navigation menu. These include a link to either login or logout (depending on your current status), a link to create a new member registration ("New User"), and a link to your main member page, "My Virginia Oaks."

Searching the Site
Depending on the type of content that you a browsing, you may notice a search box on the left side of your browser window. To avoid confusion, all searches on this site are location sensitive. That means that if you are exploring articles, your search will only return matching articles. If you are browsing property listings, your search will only return matching property listings.
To use the search function, just type in your search term and press the button. To make sure you get the most relevant results each time you search, we will try your search in three different ways: - Exact term in title: Our first search will look for any titles or headlines that contain your exact search term or word.
- Similar term in title: If we do not find an exact term in titles or headlines, we will try a similar term in the title or headline.
- Similar term in main text: If we cannot locate a similar term in the title or headline, we will try to search the main text of all entries for something similar to your search term.
All these search options happen automatically behind the scenes, so you don't need to memorize any special kind of search terminology or place your terms in quotations. Just enter the term the way you want us to find it, and we'll take care of the rest.
Adding Your Own Content
Please explore the site and discover the many features available. As you browse the site, you will also see that many sections welcome input. If you see a hyperlink inviting you to "Add..." something, please feel free to do so. Whether you have an ad for a used car, a local business listing, a news article you would like to share, or a question, we value your input.
The "Add" feature, along with some of the features of the site will be unavailable until you register to become a site member. If you are not logged in when you click an "Add" link, you will be redirected to the login page. If you are not a member yet, you will need to click the "Join Now" link from the login page or the "New User" button in the side navigation menu.
Registering as a Member
Registering is easy. Just fill out the form that appears when you click the link.
Once you complete your new registration, you will be routed to your main member page: "My Virginia Oaks." This page contains all the links you need to add or change content that you contribute to the site. Links to all content types that you are invited to add appear at the top of the side navigation menu. For more information on Registering, see Your Account here in our help section.
If you own a local business, you can add and maintain your own listing on the site and inform residents about specials, discounts, or highlights that will entice them to make you their first choice for whatever service or product you carry.
Additional Priviledges for Virginia Oaks Residents
A site administrator automatically reviews all new memberships on the site. If you are a Virginia Oaks resident, the administrator will you automatically upgrade your membership to give you authorized access to special 'residents only' areas of the site. This process will take a few days and in the meantime you will not be able to access the resident directory, babysitter listings, or other areas containing sensitive information. Once your residency is verified, you will receive additional access to these additional features. If you have questions about verifying your membership status, please contact us.
